The Enrichment Group spends nearly $400 per child for all the extras that make our school great. Our goal is 100% family participation. Thank you for helping to make this annual event a success by giving at whatever level your family can afford. Past donations have ranged from $5 to $5,000. All are appreciated and 100% goes to our school.
And, of course, your contribution is tax deductible.
Please remember to check with your employer for matching gift programs.
The MVSEG website has a list of companies that match.
If you are interested in helping us dial for dollars, please contact Andy Trilling (310) 266-7827, or fill out the flyer and leave it in the MVSEG box in the school office. We'll provide dinner, a script, phones, and our president's inspirational presence. We need your enthusiasm and passion for Mar Vista Elementary. Mar Vista Elementary now has its very own green team, the Green Dolphins, to help the school become even greener. We started with recycling bins last year and this year we’ll be working to reduce the overall amount of trash the school generates.
One place we can really make a big difference in helping keep our planet healthy is reducing waste from our lunches. According to wastefreelunch.org all those juice boxes and extra packaging generate 67 pounds of waste per child each school year. We can make a big dent in that simply by rethinking the way we do lunch.
http://www.wastefreelunches.org/HowTo.html
What can you do?
Bring a Zero Waste Lunch to school!
That’s right. You can pack a trash-free lunch by following the 3 simple steps below.
1.
Try a reusable insulated lunch box instead of a plastic bag or paper bag.
2.
Pack a sandwich in a reusable container labeled with your child’s name.
There are lots of choices here from a simple Tupperware to a reusable sandwich bag from Wrap-N-Mat or Resnack-it.
You could also wrap it in waxpaper.
3.
Try a reusable bottle instead of a juice box.
Add a cloth napkin and a reusable spoon and there will be nothing to throw away!
We’ve gone ahead and contacted some stores that will give you discounts on these sorts of products. Just let them know your student attends Mar Vista Elementary by using the codes provided.
